Argostoli is a cruise port stop on the island of Kefalonia. I spent one day in Argostoli Greece from a cruise ship as a stop on a 7 day Greek Isles cruise on the Norwegian Jade (read my full review of the cruise here). We spent our time here touring nearby Melissani Lake and Cave and the Drogarati Cave.

We took an excursion organized by our cruise ship, but it looks like Norwegian no longer offers the option to tour these caves. if you are looking to plan your own tour, you could use Viator.
Exploring Caves during your One Day in Argostoli
Melissani Lake and Cave
Melissani Lake is located within a cave. Part of the cave’s roof has collapsed allowing sunlight to pour in. Touring the cave involves waiting in line (can be long due to the popularity of the stop) and boarding a paddleboat. The boat will take you on a quick tour of the cave on the beautiful, clear, blue water. There is a small giftshop and snack station onsite as well. Overall, the lake is truly gorgeous and I recommend this stop in Argostoli.
Drogarati Cave
The second cave we explored was a dry cave meaning you can walk around inside. Reaching Drogarati Cave requires descending many steps (and going up these steps to leave). The cave is filled with stalagmite and stalactites. If you are short on time, I would recommend Melissani Lake over Drogarati Cave.
Relax at the Beach for One Day in Argostoli
If exploring caves doesn’t appeal to you, then you may want to use your one day in Argostoli to unwind at the beach. Consider Myrtos Beach, voted one of the best in Greece. If your cruise doesn’t provide an excursion there, you could book your own tour. Alternatively, if you would like to check out a few beaches there are day cruises out of Argostoli Harbor with stops at White Rocks Beach, Vardiani Island, and Xi Beach.
